So, I'm looking for a system to play in a specific setting (specifically, the setting of the Dominions computer games). Overall, AoF seems like a good fit (though I'd have to make custom army lists) but that setting has quite powerful magic, and a quite different way of handling magic (not random success of casting, but exhausting).
I'm considering trying to make a hack for the game making magic more powerful and functioning a bit differently, sacrificing a bit of the simplicity to match source material better.
I'm simultaneously worried about the magic dominating *too* much, so access to magic would have to be more expensive/limited.
Anyone done anything like this before? Any thoughts?
