My group are having trouble figuring out how to earn pts in GFF campaigns (or at least, we're not sure our interpretation is correct)
It looks like, RAW, the only way to earn pts to buy or replace units (short of a few random events) is to either loose a mission (and earn d3x10pts) OR to complete the single special objective they rolled (and earn d3x10pts).
Is there no point allocation for winning the mission? (that seems odd, and is the basis for the question - did we miss something?)
That's right, you only forgot that you can also earn extra points via random events.
This system is in place to balance out the campaign, if you keep losing you get points to replace your dead units and upgrade what you have to adapt to the winner's army.
If you keep winning you earn a lot of VP but have to deal with a force that has a harder time to adapt and might slowly shrink, whilst on the flipside you're also earning XP which makes your units better.
All of these systems work together to balance out the campaign.
