Ratmen Versus Dwarves - 150pts Batrep

welshy and I played a small Skirmish match between his Dwarves and my Ratmen. It was interesting with so many low cost units running around, but it made for a game that wasn't over until it there was a very clear winner.

The Lists:

Dawrves:

Engineer - 55pts

  w/Rifle

3x Warriors - 40pts

  w/Great Weapons

3x Marksmen - 40pts

  2x Great Weapons

  1x Twin Pistols

Berserker - 15pts

Ratmen:

Warlock - 50pts
   Wizard(2)

Rat Ogre - 40pts

Storm Trooper - 15pts

Poison Grenadiers [3] - 15pts

Warriors [3] - 30pts
   Spears

The Battle:

Round 1 Start:

Round 1 started with some early positioning and a few potshots by the Dwarven marksmen and Engineer, leading to a Warrior-rat being wounded. The Warlock cast Pestilence on the Engineer, dealing 2 Wounds to the stout leader. Rats and Dwarves alike captured the points closes to them, while moving to try and take the others.

Round 2:

Round 2 started with a friendly mercenary-rat showing up to aid the Warlock's retinue while the wounded Warrior was gunned down in the prime of his life. The Warlock tried to finish off his foe with another round of Pestilence, causing a mighty 4 hits that the Engineer heroically shrugged off with no damage, while the mercenary and a warrior tried taking down some of the Dwarven warriors. This led to the Engineer gunning down the Mercenary and ended with the Ratmen capturing points 1, 2 and 3.

Round 3:

Round 3 was even more chaotic as a brawl enveloped the two forces centered on point 5 and on the dwarves pinned between the wall and the forest. Snapped Neck was in effect, but nobody rolled 6s while in melee, so no instant KOs. The Dwarven Berserker continued to try and kill the Rat-Ogre, but was KO'd for his efforts. The Storm Trooper scurried around and knocked out the stunned Marksman, while a Dwarven Warrior managed to wound the Rat Ogre again, but not enough to stun or KO the monstrosity. The other Warrior tried charging the rat holding Point 5, but was killed when the rat held fast and gutted the charging warrior with his spear. And lastly the Engineer withstood 3 AP1 Lightning hits from the Warlock, though was stunned by the crackling energy. With most of their force wounded or killed, the Dwarves decided to withdraw rather than suffer more losses and the Ratmen claimed-took victory over the Dwarves.

Final Board state:

Truly a vicious fight that will go into the Dwarven Book of Grudges while the rats loot the remainder of the treasures in this village and celebrate with well earned cheese snacks.

Lets face it... the ruins where a cheesiery that both the Dorfs and the Ratlings wanted to feast on. Gibbering little shite's got there first is all

The engineer lost all of his ability to smell after the first Pestilence; that's the reason he didn't take damage with the second one   Well, this is an advantage against ratmen and orcs... Glad to see your battle report!
