So I'm enticing some friends to play Orion's Gate with me using Man O' War fantasy ships. Some thoughts on the general layout of the rules as I've been perusing them in-depth today and drafting up some MOW-based fleet concepts (bearing in mind we haven't sat down to play it yet):
1. I really wish the game incorporated facing/firing arcs more, I feel like that's really iconic of the genre.
2. The points-to-board-size ratio seems off. 6x4 seems like a huge board for only a handful of models.
3. The general layout of the rules could probably be optimized a bit. There's repetition in displaying ship stats in multiple places. Could probably just remove the stat numbers from the main rules block and leave it in the fleet construction section. Also laying out the To Hit and To Damage stats for the ships on the 2nd page reads clunky. I'd prefer something like Offensive stats (Rng, Acc, Str) and Defensive stats (Eva, Tou) grouped together.
4. The battleship speeds seem really low for a game that's only going to last 4 rounds, especially since they'll general have the most to lose by moving at cruising speeds (assuming they have lots of extra gun components)
