With Warmahordes not doing too great in my area a thought occurred to me, bring them into Age of Fantasy ! First of all the lore.
The lore for my attempt at a fanlist for the Warmachine factions.
Amongst the notable human civilisations in Tyria there is one so fractious and strife ridden that its inhabitants were once referred to as "The Orcs of Mankind" by the Great Comet Empire. Behold the Steambot Mage Lords of Alchymkia. Alchymkia began as a grouping of 3 northern nations. Like most human nations the Alchymkia Empire relied on Magic and Gunpowder for its survival. Unlike most human nations however its Emperor gave little care to the notions of "Overkill" or "Power man was not meant to have", pouring mountains of gold into weapons design. This relied on melding Necromancy (a magic treated with some respect in the Empire) , Techno-Arcanary and as much conventional weaponry as they could buy. The end result was the Steam-Bot, an industrial golem with an artificial soul designed to only be controlled by a Alchymkian. This was the first thing the Emperor (a paranoid and greedy man at his best) decreed when the plans were first discussed, these weapons would never be turned on him and the Empire could retain its safety and military supremacy, he even suggested they could begin to absorb the edges of that grandstanding 'Great Comet Empire' with such a device. Sadly for the Emperor his Steam-Bot had cost so much that his empires citizenry were starving and easily led into a violent frenzied uprising. Within months the old order had been destroyed, however their new Interim Government could barely hold the Empire together and the ancient divisions between the countries began once more, battling for ideological supremscy and the throne . For 50 years the Empire was at war with itself. This --surprisingly-- was good for the nation, as it led to a large amount of battle ready soldiers when the Havoc Warriors arrived on their doorstep.
Alchymkias forces rely on mixtures of standard human troops buffed by their national traits, the customisable Mage-Lords and the crushing might of the Steambot.

I'm a bit fan of the OPR & of Warmahordes, but the rules can be pretty dense. Really love this idea. A big part of WMH is the Warcaster's feat + Spells to make their side behave very differently. How would you handle that aspect, or is it simplified away?
The 'jacks also have a variety of weapons and abilities (such as throwing, charging, ramming etc.). Are those assumed into the Quality of the jacks?

How would you handle that aspect, or is it simplified away? The 'jacks also have a variety of weapons and abilities (such as throwing, charging, ramming etc.). Are those assumed into the Quality of the jacks? The core concept behind this list was to allow for modularity with jacks and a rough "one size fits all" stat line for the units, with certain units and factions being upgradeable to be closer in line with their WHM counterparts. Sadly feats had to go to the wayside though IIRC (havent checked the list in a while) the feat may be incorporated into the spell list. Spells themselves are also pretty generic but honestly many of the Casters themselves had similar spelks based on buffs/movement etc. Jacks are pretty strong in OPR and medium/large all have impact as standard (its a 10ft tall 500lb running iron robot, its gonna hurt when it hits) but the actual complexities of "Throw/lock etc" I dropped. The idea is less "Make a OPR version of Warmachine" and more "Lets try to incorporate Warmachine into Age of Fantasy so people can use all those minis they had lying around" with some fluff to actually link them directly into the world of Tyria.

Was this further developed at all? It sounds like a great idea!

Was this further developed at all? It sounds like a great idea! Yes, infact I finished it a while ago but had issues (now sorted) in hosting it. The Vitoran EmpireIts a fairly simple army list and concept as I explained above. The complexity was really trying to balance everything and create fluff that felt "Warmahordes" whilst also able to sit within the world of AOF. It evolved much further then my first post shows, from a mere fractious nation into a complex civil war with backstabbing, political machinations and everyone having their own stakes.

Hi, great idea and great work! Have you ever tried these lists with AoF Skirmish by adjusting the point values?

Have been thinking about this more lately. ..
Love the base stats for light and heavy jacks. The nice thing about the army lists is all the options. The Warcasters might have to be a bit generic unless we could give them a list of optional "skills" that would differentiate them (akin to feats. You only get 1, for a cost). A little like the Battle Brother's Chapter rules from Grimdark or possibly the undead special rules...
The Jacks could have a suite of additional weapons that we could pull from the Dwarf and even undead fantasy lists (steam cannons, large axes, flame guns, undead weapons etc.) that would allow you to customize your Jack to fit the fig a bit better without making any weird rules to complicate things too much. I don't know of A, AP + special rules, but my thinking is: 1. Guns that explode (cannons, range) 2. Weapons that cause clouds (gas, fire etc.) (high A, low AP). Could be a gun, or the jack just emits a cloud around itself... 3. Guns that pierce armor (high AP, low A, range). Harpoons, sniper type guns 4. Giant club/sword/Claw type weapon (no range, high A, low to mid AP) 5. Basic hands (ok AP, ok A, no range)
Focus and Control is very unique to Warmachine, so I'm cool leaving that off the table for OPR, but perhaps if the warcaster goes down, the Jacks power down as well (is there an existing necromancer rule like this?)
How does this sound?

So... reading Khazil's file more carefully... Khazil has already thought through everything I was thinking So all that remains is to re-point these for skirmish. khazil , do you have the word doc to share, and I could take a shot at reworking all the points values, unit numbers, and probably removing Colossus, and battle engines for AoFS? Thanks again for doing this. Absolutely great work.

Hi,
Just joined here and found this. I have lots of Warmahordes just sitting around with nothing to do. Very excited to see how this develops. Happy to help as needed.
Cheers

Thx for this khazil! I toyed with getting into Warmachine back in the day, but never got around to it. I might just dip my toes into OPR through this, who would think? I have tome circular proxy tokens created for Menoth and Khador (and a few Cygnar ones), just have to print them out and mount them on some large washers or wooden tokens... It will be interesting with the upcoming 4th edition of Warmachine to see, how things change and if your Army List needs "updating"

Would you mind sharing which Vitoran Faction represents what P3 faction in Warmachine?
