Hi all,
I had a first game of GF a few days ago and liked it very much I have to say. Its fast paced and so much easier to get into.
However I have a few questions where I am not exactly sure if we did everything right. I hope somebody can explain so that we can head on to the next game. 🙂
- Is the only way to strike in melee to do a charge move (or being charged)? So if you are already very close (e.g. already charged last round) and you do a normal move and shoot you cannot strike in melee although you are within two inches of the enemy? This also means you can never shoot and strike in the same turn (without being charged)?
- If a hero is part of another unit and all of that units models die, does the hero have to do a morale test and does it have to do so in subsequent turns, because it started as part of the unit? Or does it count as being its own unit again afterwards? I also guess it cannot join a different unit later that game, right?
- How are small walls in terrain normally treated? I talk about ruin walls that are smaller than standard infantry. Do you just declare them as difficult terrain, but units can pass through them or do you actually have to measure up to the top and back down again. This would make movement over these walls extremely slow / even impossible for models on bigger bases.

Correct, you can only fight in melee if you charge or are charged, and you can't shoot and fight in the same turn unless you are charged. The hero continues counting as part of the same unit, so he keeps taking morale tests, and he can't join different units. If you prefer you can always modify this. Terrain movement is up to your personal preference. I myself just count small walls as cover and allow units to walk through them.

Thank you very much! That answered all of my questions.
Seeing forward to playing additional games.

Maybe somebody can help me. I would like to know if you can move one orc mob "over" another or do they have to move around them? I'm sorry if this question was already answered.

You can't move or shoot through units.
