I havent looked into AoF very deeply, basically just skimmed over the basic rulebook and it seems like the system is near identical. So I've been wondering if the games are compatible enough to use factions from both of them against each other. Which is something ive been fancying doing with my collections for a while. I checked over the daemon army books from both games and the points cost imply both systems use basically the same calculation for balance.
So my question is, does it really work? Is there some key difference to look out for? Would the factions be reasonably balanced still?

This is something that comes up in the Discord server from time to time.
Both systems use the same system so they are "balanced." I say "balanced" because armies in GF have some serious fire power and units in AoF overall have lower QUE and DEF so they'll die on droves. You could do GF vs AoF but the AoF player is either going to need to bring a lot of troops or take advantage of cover and careful positioning.

So maybe such a game would be best handled with plenty of cover terrain to help the AoF player survive the first one or two turns?
I also do remember now the key difference between the two daemon army books, being that in GF the entire faction has Ambush, presumably to get around being shot off the table with little to no return firepower (but also representing them hopping out of their namesake wormholes)
Also, there is a discord? Is it public or patrons only? If the former i'd be grateful for a link.

Sounds about right for Ancient Armies going up against Futuristic Soldiers. Thought there will much hilarity when an Archer shoots down a Jet on a lucky 6.
I just noticed, Crossbows and Muskets are superior in every way to assault rifles, which are on par with bows. So GF needs to lean into its heavy weapons more cause they lose out in melee and regular ranged.
