My son and I just played out first game, it was Orks vs Orks because they are the models we have. It was great fun, but we had a few questions about how vehicles work, that we sort of just fluffed through during the game.
I had an Ork Trukk with my Warboss and a unit of Boys in it.
When the vehicle moves normall, then shoots, are the war boss and boys allowed to shoot as well? and if so, do they do it on the vehicles activation or do they have to activate on their own?
When a Trukk crashes into another Unit, it does Impact(6)... does the unit then get to fight back with Close Combat? and in future turns, does the Vehicle do Impact(6) each turn? or does it just do nothing? can it just drive away? can the people in the vehcile fight in close combat? I guess... the question is if/how do Vehicles do Close Combat? This also came up when an Goblin Walker Charged an Ork Attack Buggy... does the Attock Buggy get to fight back? or Do an Impact Attack in future turns?
The last question, if a Truck does an Impact attack on a unit (so its in base contact), can the Warboss and Orks then disembark can Charge in their own activation? since they are close enough with the 6" move they get when disembarking.
I guess thats alot of questions.. sorry!
But the game was very fun, my 10 year old son loved it, and I loved the fact the models I painted as a kid, and the vehicles I just finished 3d printing got played with.
1) The passengers inside activate separately, so they would have to activate, disembark, and then shoot if you wanted to shoot with them.
2) Impact is when charging, and you get it every time you charge, so yes you would get it in future turns unless you are charged. You never lose it. The unit you charge does fight back, so ramming anything but other vehicles can be quite risky. Most transports don't have any melee weapons, so besides Impact, they won't have any attacks in melee. If there are any that do, they'll have it marked on the army list.
3) Sure, remember that after you resolve combat if both units are still alive then you move 1" back to separate. There's no locked in combat status in OPR games. So, after a Truck rams a unit, the passengers can totally get out and charge on their next activation as long as the enemy doesn't move away first.
