By some miracle I stumbled on Gridmark Future. I LOVE GamesWorkshops models, I HATE their rules.
Alternating unit activation is light years ahead of I-go-you-go! Has anyone tried modifying GF by doing all the movement (using markers of what each unit did) and THEN doing all the shooting? Akin to BattleTech. I wonder if that would bring even more balance to the game.
I build Imperial Guard Human Defense Force. Here in GF squads are 5 instead of 10? Does each squad still have a sergeant like in that other game?
And where do I buy the "Full rules" for $5? If I click on the link it just gives me a jpeg of the cover.
The Human Defence Force infantry squad is 5 men. You can attach any model tagged as a "hero" to that squad to make it have 6 models. You may also join two squads of five together for a 10-man squad. But there are rules then about how you upgrade them.
I play as Human Defence Force from time to time. I found that a 5-man squad is too fragile; you end up having to test morale quite quickly. I think you're better with a 10-man squad.
