Have I lost the plot here? Why start limiting the cost of individual figures. I thought the idea of Warstuff was you picked up your figure, looked the model, it's quality, how it is armoured, how it would move, fast or slow, is it a skirmisher for instance, how's it armed, shooter or melee, is it large or small etc., etc., etc. and allocated quality and special rules appropriately. Sure limit each side to how many points they can spend overall but I can't see the point of limiting individuals. In my opinion this can only restrict the adaptability of these superb rules. I personally would have problems fielding my "Her Majesty's Land Ship Thunder Child" which costs 500pts (my chosen army pts total) on its own. I'll let you know how it get's on once it leaves the dockyard (painting table!) and enters service. Personnally I'm hoping for exciting David vs Goliath type games.

What if WarStuff had no points system? It would just have a list of quality, weapons and special rules, and then you figure things out on your own?

how do you work out points cost values in grimdark? If we had your basic formulae we could tweak it to what we have. Last weekend we played Zulu warriors with tsangomas (zulu witchdoctors) as magic users vs a crusade force. Zulus got crushed even though they outnumbered the knights about 15 to 1, but was an awesome game. prob was we couldnt balance the armies so we just eyeballed it.

Quality 6+ five points Quality 5+ ten points etc
Defence 2 + five points Defence 3+ ten points
12 inch ranged weapon 5 points 24 inch ranged weapon 10 points 36 inch ranged weapon 15 points
Ap 2 weapon 5 points(thinking behind this being 5 points for ap1 weapon is too expensive or could do 3 points for a ap1 weapon) other skills to be costed

After you click on my previous link click on d6 skirmish master document For what it's worth, that version is a bit old. I've been tinkering slowly but surely since I last posted it. I'll try to update it soon. If anyone has any feedback, feel free to send it my way; it will be appreciated. lonesome gamer

I think that's the most recent Gen 1 of them. Here's the Gen 2: www.mattcaron.net/opr_mirror/warstuff.htmlAnd some nice fellow sent me some updates which *might* have included a newer version than the 2.1.0 above, but I'm lazy and haven't done anything with them.
